IFED Mission Statement

To contribute to the progress and development of worldwide esthetic oral health and to enhance communication between member organizations.

IFED

The International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry was founded in 1994 by the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the Japanese Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Its purpose is to contribute to the progress and development of worldwide esthetic and oral health and to enhance communication between member organizations. The IFED holds a world scientific meeting every third year and is hosted by a member academy. Delegates attend from all around the world.

IFED Goals

To encourage countries to establish an academy of esthetic dentistry along IFED guidelines

To help coordinate and publicize both world and national meetings on esthetic dentistry

To assist member and forming chapters in producing the best meetings possible including assistance in obtaining speakers

IFED GUIDELINES FOR FORMING AN ACADEMY OF ESTHETIC DENTISTRY

The Academy must be national or continental in scope.
The Academy must be democratically organized and governed by a written constitution and bylaws.
The Academy must be non-profit.
– Although there must be a treasury of funds for operating expenses, the purpose of the academy should not be for financial gain.
– No member of the academy should make a direct profit from monies collected by or given to the organization.
– Under no circumstances should there be any type of product or corporate endorsement by the academy or members representing the academy.
– Separate donations may be solicited for selected approved programs of the academy, such as health, treatment of indigent patients, research, etc.

The Academy must adhere to the highest ethical and scientific standards as demonstrated by at least three years of meetings.

IFED SUPPORT TO ITS MEMBER ACADEMIES

The IFED can provide guidance in establishing an academy through:
-Providing examples of academy constitutions and bylaws
-Helping member and applicant academies obtain some of the world's top clinicians to lecture at their meetings.
This usually requires planning several years in advance, since the most sought-after clinicians schedule their travel far in advance. Both IFED officers and member academy representatives can be most helpful in contacting prominent speakers or suggesting others to help the academy reach its potential.
