
Our History
The International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED) was founded in 1994 by the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the Japanese Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
The formation was announced at the first joint Tri-Academy meeting held in Florence, 1994.
IFED's purpose is to contribute to the progress and development of worldwide esthetic and oral health and to enhance communication between member organizations.
IFED holds a world scientific meeting every two years and hosted by a member academy.
Delegates attend from all around the world.
1994-1997

Professor Takao Maruyama

Professor Takao Maruyama was appointed as First IFED President during the Foundation meeting in Florence on April 30th, 1994.
1997-2002

Dr. Ronald Goldstein
AAED
Ronald Goldstein became in charge as IFED President in Kyoto on April 6th, 1997. However due to events on September 11th, 2001, the meeting was postponed for a year.
2002-2004

Dr. Philippe Gallon
EAED
The IFED Presidency was shared between Dr Gallon and Dr Goldstein for the year 2002, handing over in Washington DC. Dr Gallon remained President until 2004 ending in the Venice meeting.
2004-2007

Dr. Peter Tay

Dr Peter Tay and Dr Seok-Hoon Ko alternated until the Seoul meeting in 2007.

Professor Dan Nathanson

Professor Dan Nathanson was President until the Las Vegas Meeting in 2009.

Dr. Jose Moura

Dr Jose Moura served until the Rio de Janeiro meeting in 2011.

Dr. David Winkler

Dr David Winkler became President in 2011 and ended his Presidency at the Munich meeting in 2013.
2013-2016

Professor Akira Senda

Professor Akira Senda became the IFED President after Dr Dave Winkler in 2013. In February 2016 at the GA Meeting in Chicago, Professor Akira Senda handed on the presidency to Dr Baldwin Marchack.
2016-2018

Dr Baldwin Marchack

Dr Marchack accepted Presidential Duties in 2016 and handed over to Professor Gil in February 2018 in Chicago

Professor Gil is the longest-serving IFED President, with a four-year tenure, due to multiple Covid-related meeting postponements.
